Children's book week
In honor of Children's Book Week I did a scan of WorldCat looking at records which had the Audn fixed-field element set to 'j' for Juvenile. The result is slightly different from the 'OCLC Top 1000' Childrens list, since I only counted holdings for records that had a 'j'. Works such as Twain's Huckleberry Finn aren't at the top of this list, since many records for Huckleberry Finn don't have the Audn field set to 'j'. Here's the list from highest held by libraries to lowest:
I found 58,000 holdings associated with these Mother Goose's, on down to 15,000 for Winnie-the-Pooh. One thing I realized compiling this list is that audience can be more closely associated with the expression than the work. In particular I found Latin translations of Winnie-the-Pooh marked juvenile, which seems questionable, while the work as a whole certainly fits.
